Umikaji Terrace Senagajima” is now very popular with tourists!

In the past, Senagajima was a quiet, uninhabited island where people simply watched airplanes.

When I visited again after a long time, I was surprised by how much it had changed.

In front of me was a beautiful view of blue ocean, white terraces, and planes flying low overhead.

It feels just like a Mediterranean resort island!

While keeping some of its natural island charm, it has become a stylish tourist spot.

Parking: Check the Parking No.4 (Observation Plaza), if very crowded

Parking-map
Source: Information board on Senagajima

There are several free parking areas on Senagajima.

If you drive clockwise around the island, you will find the parking areas in order: No.1 → No.2 → No.3.

However, since it’s a very popular tourist spot, the parking lots are often crowded.

As mentioned later, when it gets very busy, Parking No.4 (Observation Plaza) is recommended.

It’s not very well known, so you may still be able to find a space there.

Tips

Check the Parking No.4 (Observation Plaza), if the parking lots are very crowded

Parking No.1: Parking Lot Located Before Umikaji Terrace

02-parking-umikaji
Parking No1: Located Before Umikaji Terrace

To get to Umikaji Terrace Senagajima, cross the bridge, turn left, and follow the one-way road.

The first parking area you’ll see is Parking No.1, located just before Umikaji Terrace.

However, it is almost always full!

If you find a spot here, you’re lucky.

Even if you pass Umikaji Terrace, there are still parking areas ahead

03-parking-airport
Left: Street Parking, Right: Parking No2 and No3

Even after you pass Umikaji Terrace, there are more parking lots at Parking No2 and No3.

However, these are also always full!

Because of this, many people end up parking on the side of the road.

Parking No.4 (Observation Plaza) is recommended, if Parking No1,2,3 are full

04-parking-tenbou
Parking No4 (Observation Plaza), Usually has plenty of space!

My personal recommendation is Parking No.4 (Observation Plaza).

Even when the other parking areas are very crowded, you can often still find a space here.

Probably because not many people know about it.

It might get crowded in the future, though!

51-tenbou-hiroba

After parking at the Observation Plaza, first head up to the observation deck.

Then, go down the stairs, and you’ll reach the entrance of Umikaji Terrace (near Parking No.1).

On your way back, walk up toward the hotel from Umikaji Terrace, and you’ll return to the Observation Plaza parking area in a loop.

If the parking lots are packed, definitely check Parking No.4!
